This sun face was created during a visit to the Oak Island Parks and Rec summer camp. The children heard the story Musicians of the Sun and then set to work creating sun faces out of clay. I love all of the different expressions.

This piece was done by a third grader at The Academy of Coastal Carolina after having studied the works of Claude Monet. A tape resist was used to create the bridge and painted with watercolors. The students then used oil pastels to finish their artwork.

This project was about midline symmetry. The fourth grade students created bugs by transferring their name in cursive and adding features. The students used oil pastels because they transfer easily to create their artwork.

This colorful piece was created with cooked spaghetti noodles dipped in washable tempera paints. We based our project off of the book More Spaghetti I Say! by Rita Gelman.

Students learned about artist Marc Chagall and the stained glass panels he designed and painted water color crayon resists focusing on warm and cool colors.
After reading the book Rhinos Who Surf and learning all about surf lingo the kids created these totally awesome and radical surfer sculptures. That is one mondo wave dude.

This is a painting by Cammy ,age 9.She did it when she was in an inspiration phase with wolves.Now she loves painting with water colors.
This piece was created during our Native American camp week after reading the book The Raven by McDermott, a story from the northwest indian tribes. The book has great pictures inspired by the totem animal, the raven. The kids painted a watercolor sky background and then cut out raven shapes from black construction paper. They glued other geometric cut shapes onto their birds to complete the image.
This adorable little birdie was sculpted by three year old Karma out of playdough. We got out the feathers to make it extra special. Then simply let the playdough air dry.
